Joe has always enjoyed a large professional clientele by continuously
striving for excellence in his repair work. His patience and willingness to
please even the most demanding players remain as important as his
expertise. Younger players too, often leave sounding and playing better
by following his advice and tips on posture, sound projection and
articulation.
The finest woodwind players from all circles of the music business
would converge on Joe's famed Carnegie Hall location, keeping him
busy many late nights at the repair bench. To accommodate his clients'
recording, performance and travel schedules, as well as the
ever-present "emergency" repairs, 20 hour workdays were not
uncommon.
After reluctantly closing his Carnegie location, Joe remained full time at
his Dumont, New Jersey shop. Many of his favorite clients would
continue to visit Joe for repairs, although others found it difficult to add
the extra travel time to their busy schedules. Reducing his repair
commitments, however, allowed Joe to direct more time and energy to
the sales of used instruments, always an important segment of his
business.
In recent years, Joe has further reduced his shop hours, conducting a
major portion of the business by phone, fax, and most recently the
internet. Now maintaining locations in Walton, New York and Dumont,
New Jersey, Joe accepts appointments for "in person" sales and repair
visits.
